Who
is Newman?
Have you
wondered about where the “Newman” in Newman Catholic Campus Ministry
at NCCU comes from?
John
Henry Cardinal Newman...was the English leader in the nineteenth-century
intellectual renewal in the Church and later was chosen the
great patron of campus ministers in our country" (Empowered
by the Spirit, National Conference of Catholic Bishops).
Many campus ministry sites around the nation therefore have “Newman”
in their organizational titles. For a more in-depth look at John
Henry Newman’s life, visit the online Catholic Encyclopedia at
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10794a.htm.
